I'm not sure why Jay and Jimmy call me Taffy unless it's just because it sort of rhymes or they think it rhymes with Kathy? It has been fun reading your nick names too.
It looks like we have a few more apples that want to join the support group - Annette, Mary M. and April. Let's hear some more suggestions as what to call ourselves. If you don't want to report on the blog where do you think we should report to each other? Keep up the good work! Even if you're just holding this week that sure is a lot better than gaining!
I wish I had started reporting to someone that I was holding at around 115 lbs. I never thought I'd be overweight. I used to eat milkshakes every day to try and gain weight in Junior High School. My dad warned me that it would catch up with me some day when we were fighting over the last piece of fried chicken. I used to lose weight when I was under pressure or stressed out. Now I start eating for comfort and energy when I'm tired or nervous. Boy, have things changed!
I celebrated losing 2 more pounds this week by going to lunch with a friend today! Oh, oh. I better watch it. Haven't done any exercise today yet either. Wii Fit for sure tonight. Wayne is getting his exercise right now by playing Tetris. Wii should come out with a physical fitness Tetris or physical fitness Scrabble then Wayne would really be in shape.

Hi Kathy,
Checking in with you and the group and I have not gained or lost this week. It was birthday central around here on the weekend so it was difficult to be good after being good all week - I need to work on the will power :)
There are a lot of good suggestions to name this group - not including Wayne's "Granny Smith" comment! I too am not yet a grandma so I'm not ready to wear that prestigious hat! I do like the name Ambrosia - that's a feeling describing being thin that I hope to experience, as well as the name of a new apple! I also thought a reference to paring was also clever!
Let's not hang out "down by the lazy river" this week. Let's jump and move like a "yo-yo" and increase our metabolism so we can all have great losses this week!
Keep up the good work everyone. Congratulations Kathy on your two pounds :)
Okay, I'm with Wayne! I could really get into a fitness Scrabble or Tetras. (as long as I could do it sitting down) LOL! I was hoping that pound that came back yesterday would come off today, but it is just clinging on there. Next week will be better. Congrats on your two pounds lost!
Today was kind of a lazy day for me. I spent too much of it on the computer while listening to Donny's new radio show. But since I'll be back at work tomorrow, it was the only one I'll get to see. So I'll have a better report for you next week, I'm sure, about the weight loss. Thanks again for the inspiration! Oh, and welcome to Anette, Mary M. and April too. Maybe we could be the Apple Fritters... frittering away the pounds! :o)

After reading Kim's comment I'm wondering if the yo-yos would be a good name to call us?
I am holding this week. I had a pretty "fattening" weekend but at least I didn't gain. I am not over weight but I really would like to loose at least 5 more pounds and try to flatten my tummy a little. At least in the summer I'll be able to get into the pool for exercise. I'm like you Kathy, I used to try to gain weight. People thought I was nuts and would say "I wish I was as skinny as you" but when I finally did gain 10 more pounds I looked and felt better. That was 20 years ago and I don't want to gain anymore now. I am a Taco Bell junkie but have stayed away from it for a while until this weekend.
Oh, BTW, I have a few nicknames friends and family call me. One is Kern because a freind of mine had a heavy Texas accent and instead of "Karen" he always said "Kern".
Talk to you soon.
Karen (Kern LOL)
I like "the Yo-yos". "The Divine Secrets of the Yo-Yo Sisterhood"! HA!!!
Hi all - I just cracked up with the Yo-Yo name idea! That's been the story of my life.
Two weeks behind you all, I finally got my act together this morning and stepped on the scales. YOW!! I knew I'd gained while home Nov/Dec recovering from my surgery, but ladies, we're talking 25 pounds of the 43 I took off last year. Whaaaa, ouch and oh, the pain. Guess there's my first goal - drop those 25 suckers. I hope to do it before heading down to Tampa for Busch Gardens and the Brothers' shows there. I ate healthy today and avoided the snack machines at work so one day down. That's the goal for this week - get back to eating sensibly. Then next week I'll drag myself back to the treadmill. Thanks for the great blog idea, Kathy, it really will make me more accountable for my actions.
Oh --- did check with my friend, the Donny-expert, and she doesn't remember the "Corky" nickname at all. I swear he went by it.. the image of 16 Magazine and that name plastered next to Donny's face is just so clear. Maybe Donny could shed some light on the name? .. Sandra in GA
Physical fitness Scrabble for Wii...I would buy it & challenge Wayne. If it worked my body as hard as my brain works when I play Scrabble with Wayne, I would be a lean, mean, fighting machine within weeks. HAHAHA
Congratulations on losing 2 more pounds, Kathy! That's great! Going out to lunch with a friend is nothing. Cutting things out completely doesn't work in the long run (I find). It's all about what you eat, how much you eat, when you eat & the exercise you do. If you can keep that in control, then you'll see lifetime results.
That being said...I didn't do well at all. HAHAHA I let all the "stuff" (& I use that term lightly) at work get to me big time. I was in a foul mood all week, and found comfort & solace in cookies, chips, candy & junk in general. That cost me the 2lbs I had lost plus 2 more by Friday morning. I also skipped 2 taekwondo classes, but did get to the gym one night, yoga another & skiing Friday night. I was good on the weekend & managed to lose back the 2lbs. So, I'm back at 150....my starting weight.
Today was much better, but then again, I took the day off. hehehe I just have to let that "stuff" at work slide off my back. Nine months of it left to endure....that's good & bad, depending on how you look at it. ;)
Keep up the good work, Kathy, and all the others participating in this. With each other's encouragement, we can do it!!
I'm down only 1 pound .... I was hoping for more. Back to the daily routine and I'm fine. Weekends I'm reckless!!! After this coming week, I know I'll be on a better road. Heading back to Zumba.
Kathy. Maybe you can get Wayne to join us. Not that he needs to lose weight. Maybe to get in shape and eat healthy. OK. I think that's going to be hard.
Well I think I lost a pound even though I don't feel it. I bought a scale today so I don't have to go to the store and weigh myself every week.
Congrats Kathy with a total of 4 lbs lost. You go girl.
Now when are we going to start that other group.
definitely the yo-yos!!!!
Congrats Kathy on the two pounds, you are being consistent! I did real well today up to the fries from McDonalds - ugh!!! I hate those cravings!!!! Does anyone have a goal they are trying to reach? I need to lose about 30 lbs with 10 of it gone by this time next month.
I'm with Shundra, if you are talking about the Old Testament group - when should we start that? I'm going to start reading tonite, 2 chapters a night.
Keep up the good work everyone. i'm down 1.5 lbs.
Well..I have to say.>I dont like the name yoyos.. because yoyo dieting is NOT what any of us want..We dont want to go up and down..we want to go steadily down.So thats my two cents on that.
I did not loose any wt this week>Stressful event and just couldnt do it. Did do pretty well on the exercising..so thats a plus. I can feel my muscles getting stronger and more flexible..less stiffness (doing program from physical therapist to strengthen back/ankles. Maybe back on track next week.
Congrats Kathy on the continued wt loss.>Im still impressed with your loosing while on the cruise. That took a lot of willpower Im sure.
Keep up the good work everybody..

Hi Kathy,
Have managed to lose 2lb this week. Still have some chocolate left from christmas which doesn't help. Have been enjoying reading everyones comments. I like ambrosia, yo yos or apple frittas. Keep up the good work everyone.
Diane
Congratulations Kathy! I found almost all the 2 pounds you lost! Actually, I gained just a little over a pound. Not a total surprise, but it still put me down in the dumps most of the day. All I wanted to do was eat! But I didn't! Yea! One victory at a time. I'm glad that so many of us had a successful weigh in today. As for those of us that had the scale go in the wrong direction, better days are ahead. It did help me to know that I wasn't the only one who faltered this week. I'm doing better starting NOW!
Something in one of the other comments got me thinking about our name. How about Apple Wings. We are taking flight to control our weight and eating, and soaring to a new, healthier life. Maybe it just makes sense to me. Just a suggestion.
Hope everybody has a great and health week!

If I had a laptop, I'd be playing Scrabble on it and riding my exercise bike at the same time - good idea!!!!!
I don't mind reporting in on the blog here - makes it easy and convenient.
When I was in my very early 20's I actually used to eat 2 Quarter Pounders, 2 large fries and a 1 large Coke - it definitely caught up with me in later years.
And I always loved dessert first (still do). French friensa nd chocoate cream pie - thank goodness I got away from that.
I'm late checking in. I lost another 2 lbs this week. Thats 5 in total already. Not sure how I did that cos I ate a few things I shouldn't have. Maybe it'll catch up on me this week.

I need to start execising again. Have not done anything in a month. Today I was walking a hour or so. Usually I bike (ergometer) for ab. 45-55 minutes full speed and .. uh what ever that makes it harder to bike and a few other things, takes me almost 2 hours 4-6 times a week.
What is the diet you use or is it so that everyone eats their own diet?
Hi, Kathy,
I managed to lose 1 1/2 lbs this week. Good for you and your two pounds!
I, too, like the Yo-Yo's! HA! I was leaning towards "An Apple a Day" since I try to check in here daily, but the Yo-yo's made me giggle. My exercise is walking around the local mall. I need to add some strength training exercises, too. Thanks for the support!
Kathy, maybe you could have a title of a blog 'Lose it-the week of....' each week so we have somewhere to post our accomplishments. I'm not sure where to post but I lost 5 lbs! I'm a custodian at a library & shovelled snow for 4 days for 2 hrs almost every day! First time in 3 yrs I'm under 200lbs! Whoopeee! Arg, I'm kinda sore but surprised me I really don't hurt so much be in shape!
Good job everyone! Those of you that kinda made a detour, you'll step it up tomorrow!Hang in there gang!
I would like to join your weight loss support group too! I have been doing it but haven't posted about it until now. Lost 4 lbs. the first week and 2 lbs. this time! Yay! Thanks for doing this Kathy! Lots of fun!
Hi Mom, Thanks for being my Loose It friend:) Sorry I didn't skype today, I didn't get your email until Noah was asleep. Can we skype tomorrow (i guess that is today)? I better get back to work. Love you!
I know we all have different sizes and our sizes are measured are called Apple, pear etc... so we could be called The Fruit Bowls!!

I finally weighed today and I have gotten rid of another pound. Yea! Today (1/21/10) is my first "rebirthday". One year ago I had the RNY gastric bypass. Since then, I have gotten rid of a total of 157 pounds. A total weight drop of 251 pounds! Double Yea! Needless to say, the scales are no longer going down as quickly, or as often, as I would like. So, I've been struggling with my eating & exercising too. I'm so glad for this opportunity to check in with others who are in the same mind set.
Kathy, I was thinking about your question of where we should report in. I think reporting on the blog is fine. But If we had something a little more interactive, where we could "talk" with each other. Something like the Brothers forum or maybe Facebook. Since I'm technically challenged, I don't know how or if that would work. Maybe Amy knows more about that. Anyway, it's just a suggestion. Thanks again for starting this blog. Not only is it great for getting to know you better, but the accountability & support for each other is great! I hope to see you when the Brothers come to Marietta GA in March.

I vote for the Yo Yos also.
I yo-yo-ed this week. Down one and then back up.
