"An Apple a Day Bunch" Report

"An Apple a Day Bunch" please report for the week May 10-17th. I'm having a hard time maintaining my weight here in Branson. Because the travel scales aren't accurate it is even more frustrating. I can get on the scales 5 different times in a row and get 5 different numbers of how much I weigh. I really don't know for sure how much I weigh. Need to find a solution to this. Any ideas? I've been snacking on Birthday and Mother's Day candy too, which doesn't help either. Oh well, it's another week so I'll start keeping better track of my calorie count.

Some of us have been on this diet since January so maybe it's time to find a way to help us get motivated again. Any suggestions?

Kathy.Regarding the travel scales. In the UK most drug stores have scales why not get weighed there once a week?In UK are scales are in a quiet part of the store and print out your weight plus ideal weight for your height.Hope this helps See you in June

have an idea kathy--just go to walmart and buy a cheap scale and keep it at the theatre. i'm sure there's a place that you can put it.

Kathy,
As for the scale issue, the only suggestion I have is (this may sound wierd) to go weigh at the post office. They have those platform scales to weigh the bulk mail, so they must be accurate. I don't know where the post office is in Branson, but if you call the postmaster, they usually don't mind you using the scale. Bonus is that there is usally nobody else around, so you don't have to let the world know your weight. The only other thing I can suggest is to get an inexpensive, but accurate scale at Walmart. Then ask the hotel manager to keep it for you when you're not in town.

There are times that getting motivated is difficult, especially when the scale is doing the yo yo thing. I try to eat right, but when it doesn't show on the scale....well, let's just say it's twice as hard to stay "good".
These days my motivation comes from my upcoming birthday trip to Branson. I do not want Wayne, Merrill and Jay to see me bigger than I was in Lawrenceburg. They probably won't remember, but I'll know. I have a front and center seat for both shows I'm attending. I'm also hoping to see you again. So, whether you know it or not, you motivate me every day!

I think I'll go exercise! ha ha

Every time I see an Applebees I think about you in Branson. I can visualize their under 500 calorie choices in my sleep. LOL

Problem is the sodium is just huge on so many of their items. That can create the appearance of not losing the weight you actually did lose.

My stepdaughter Aimee is home (YAY!) from college for the next 3 months. She looks great and seems so happy. We've missed her.

No one here will eat the same things. So with 4 different ways of eating now, that means a tighter food budget.

That means hot dogs and baked beans some nights. It means more pasta dishes.

My saving grace are that dried split peas are 88 cents a bag. That's a lot of cups of high protein soup for little money. Flash frozen chicken breasts and tons of frozen veggies.

I lost a pound and that was a struggle with all the carbs I'm eating.

I'm back to Lean Cuisine meals and I've found those Steamers you mentioned awhile back. I am going to try and get the guys food set up so there is only enough for them to eat and then eat my own stuff. My biggest problem is the evening, I love to snack while we watch TV. FOr the next week though hubby has a side job, painting our dentists office - so I'm helping him, so I won't be home to do the snacking thing. Hopefully that will be a good report next week.

As for getting motivated - my motivation is I'm going to Vegas in July and I have a dress that fits but could look better if I lose a bit more weight and tone up. I just keep putting the dress on and ..... thus my motivation. Also, the weather is getting nicer here so it is easier to get outside, which always helps.

I can actually "check in". Went to my father-in-law's Saturday and they had a new scale - so I decided to see if I had gained or lost. I LOST - 5 lbs. I couldn't believe it. We don't have a scale in the house - which is good. Now I feel better knowing something is working right.

Haven't been able to go out walking much - weather is really crappy here in Indiana. Raining or cold. Paul did put air in the tires of my bike - so if the weather ever turns nice again I'll be able to ride my bike during the day while out of work.

I weighed this morning...and the news was not good. I really don't understand, I exercised a lot last week and my eating was better than the week before. The scale said I gained 7 pounds!! :-( YIKES! I already had a doctor appointment scheduled for today, so he checked out everything. I'll be depressed today, then tomorrow it's back to the job! After all, Branson and Vegas are getting closer and closer!

Lost 6 pounds last week. There must be something to be said for staying the course. That makes 14 since I got "dead serious"... now I'm waiting for the slow down to hit. Metabolism can so stink!

For inspiration, I think about how hot it is going to get. The lighter items I eat, the cooler I seem to stay, so that inspires me to stay away from carbs, fats, and sugars. Good luck this week, everyone! Sandra in GA
