Thank You Dad and Mom For My Birthday!

In this photo I was 24 hours old. Today I'm 57 years old. Isn't that crazy. Only three years until I turn sixty and that's starting to sound old. I actually like getting older. I'm a lot more comfortable with myself now than I was in younger years. Is that how everyone else feels?

My dad was in the army in Korea when I was born. He received a telegram to notify him that he'd become a father to a little baby girl, Kathlyn Louise White. He didn't actually see or hold me until I was 3 months old. This photo was taken after he returned from the Korean war.

I was a colicky baby which was difficult for my mother because she was staying with her parents for the year that my father was in Korea. Every night she would have to hold me and pace back and forth to keep me from crying and waking up her sisters and my grandparents. If she put me down for even a minute I'd start crying and screaming. I've had a couple colicky babies so I know how much fun that is. NOT!

I'd like to thank my dad and mom for being such wonderful parents. I have always felt really safe and secure. I knew that they would do anything for me and they have done everything for me. They are both beautiful people inside and out. They are really bright, sensible, and practical people. They have always made very wise decisions so I really trust them and any advice that they give me. They've helped me through some tough times which I will appreciate eternally! I've been so blessed to have their support and love throughout my life. They are still strong, hard working, caring, wonderful parents. Thank you for all the wonderful birthdays. I love you both so much!!!

Happy Birthday Kathy!!! Hope you have a wonderful day. Thanks for sharing these family photos. You resemble your beautiful mother a lot. And your Dad-quite the smile!!

60 is fast approaching, isn't it? We're counting the months until Hubs turns 65....123 months until retirement!! For me, ever since I turned 40, I have become more self assured and confident, opinionated (not that its always good or right!) and content with what I have (and don't have!). It's the little things that mean the most...and you know--I find spending time together with my small group of friends, family and Hubs is what matters most in the world.

What a lovely tribute to your parents!
Yes, I feel exactly like you, I feel much more comfortable getting older.
I'm still a bit shy, but a little more assertive, dare to speak up for myself a bit more. And: I learned to say no! I also realized that you can't be loved/liked by everyone... :o)

Happy Birthday Kathy! Love the photos....you do resemble your mother. I'm lucky I didn't have colicky babies, have heard horror stories though. It's not easy in those sleep deprived months. Would love to see more family photos of you growing up....you have one sister right? Have a wonderful birthday Kathy and hope you receive lots of nice surprises! Just remember when you lose weight everyone looks alot YOUNGER....so 60 is far off, HA!!

How nice of you to remember your parents on your birthday! Happy Birthday Kathy!

I'm 10 years behind you but understand what you are saying. I do feel more comfortable with myself and my life.

Life really is on the job training and I feel more broken in the older I get.

Happy Birthday Kathy from Paul and I. That isn't so old - 57. Actually, 57 is my favorite number. Great pictures of when you were a baby and I agree - you resemble your mom. Hope Wayne is taking you out for a special dinner (if he is up to it). Enjoy your day, do something fun!!!!

Happy Birthday Kathy, have a great day! That was a lovely tribute to your parents and I'm sure that they are really proud of you too!

I'm also more comfortable and happier with myself the older I get, I used to be extremely shy and wouldn't stand up for myself..... but now things have changed and for the better I feel.

You are so blessed to still have them in your life.
I lost mine when I was only 38. I still miss them every day.

I had my "big" birthday in March. Still a bit ahead of you.
Hope it was a great day.

Kathy, I hope you had a wonderful birthday. It looks like you had a great life growing up with parents like that.

My wife is a colicky baby, but she's that way NOW. If she isnt driving around with a credit card in her hand, she starts to cry,....lol. If she see's this, I'm in trouble. But I love her.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHY! Thanks for sharing that beautiful tribute to your parents, and the lovely pictures. You were a real cutie! Well, with good looking parents like that, how could you not be? Isn't it amazing when we look back at everything our parents have done for us all our lives? My parents have been pillars of strength and wisdom for me, as well....and I'm eternally grateful to them both! I hope I'm progressing to be more and more like them everyday. I do agree with you about feeling more comfortable with myself as I get older. I've noticed that a lot the last few years, too. As for colicky babies .... well, I haven't been blessed with any children of my own. But I do know that I was a colicky baby for the first year of my life....and I've heard all the stories from my family about how I'd cry and fuss and keep everyone awake. My Brother, who is 5 years older than I, was going to be starting Kindergarten that Fall .... (I was born in July) and I guess I kept him awake all Summer with my crying. One day, he went up to my Mom in the kitchen (at age 5), and said: "Mom, you've GOT to do SOMETHING about THAT BABY! I'm starting school soon and I NEED MY SLEEP!" All I can say is: "Sorry 'bout that, chief!" Anyway, the bottom line is that PARENTS ARE WONDERFUL, SIBLINGS ARE A BLESSING, AND FAMILIES ARE FOREVER! And thank the Lord for that! Have a great day, Kathy...and say hi to Wayne. Birthday Hugs, Wendy : )

For all Moms...I found this online, wanted to share: When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my
painting on the frige, I knew I wanted to paint more. When
you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake, I knew
that little things are special. When you thought I wasn't looking, I
heard you say a prayer, I knew there...is a God I could always talk to.When
...you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt
loved.
