"Wonky's Book Worms" Report Here!

Wayne and I caught up on our reading tonight since he didn't have a show. The reading for next week is Judges Chapters 3 - 16. We had a lot of fun trying to say all those names and places. Ha! One generation after Joshua and the children of Israel are already forgetting the Lord and worshipping other gods. It's unbelievable. But then I look at the change of attitude toward God before 9/11 and right after where it was suddenly acceptable to pray and talk about God. Where do you think we are now in the cycle?

How is the "teeth" situation going? Have you guys thought anymore about trying to find someone in Branson to help Wayne out?

Hope Wayne is feeling better I was there last weekend & noticed he had a hard time speaking telling his jokes. Only those that know him would have noticed, I hope he gets relief soon. Still with you in Scripture!

Hi Kathy,
I have to admit that I haven't been participating in the readings. Is it too late to join in? As for society's attitudes towards God since 9/11, I think that crisis caused everyone to turn more towards the Lord for a time. However, I think we all have to be careful not to slip into complacency. We shouldn't turn to the Lord just because there's a crisis, but should keep our sights on Him all the time...through good and bad. I believe that God doesn't just want to be "a part" of our lives, but wants to be "the centre" of our lives, including in the joyful & contented times. Certainly, we can call on the Lord when we are in distress and He will be there for us. However, if we forget to call on Him in the happier times, we run the risk of falling into the trap that plagued the ancient Israelites & many others throughout history.......we lose that personal relationship with God...that spiritual connection. And we cannot pass what we don't have onto future generations. This can result in a future society that doesn't know God at all, and turns to other "gods." Hopefully, that will not happen to our Western Culture. But we have to remember God and keep that relationship with Him alive. This takes effort and committment. I pray that the Lord will help all of us to remember Him everyday.....the Lord, of course, will never forget us. As for Wayne, I do hope he's feeling better. Please give him a hug for me, Kathy; and let him know he's in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, Kathy!

Lots of Love to both you and Wayne,

I wish Wayne would go and get his teeth/abess problem seen to asap, never mind the shows. Could one of the extended family not fill in for him?

I think we are back to forgetting about God, again. I mean those of us that wouldn't dream of leaving our faith are still there but the government seems to be against us!!

I loved reading Joshua's exhortations to the Israelites. What a leader! It seems that the people started by asking the will of the Lord at the beginning of Judges but as time goes along they begin falling away.

I think we have fallen away as a nation from calling upon God for help like we did soon after 9/11. I don't want to see another attack upon the USA, but I think we need to return to the Lord. I am so grateful to God that he kept the man who was going to bomb Times Square in New York from carrying out his plan. Chapter 2 of Judges says that God has compassion on his people even though they turned from Him. I pray that He will also have compassion on us.
