I Lost Wayne Today!

Wayne is recuperating from his dental surgery. He still has to take a little pain medication once in awhile, is supposed to be taking it easy and is only supposed to eat soft foods. He's stretched out on the couch in the family room watching the Discovery channel on TV with his favorite brown blankie, eating his favorite soft food, chocolate creamies. He's eaten more than 3 dozen creamies in the past 2 days and a couple dozen soft potato rolls. He won't eat nutritious soft foods like soup and applesauce.

I drove us up to South Ogden this afternoon to have Stephanie, our niece, cut our hair since we are leaving on Monday for Indiana. After getting our hair cut, Wayne wanted to go to Sears to look at their tools. I wanted to run into Dillard's for a few minutes and suggested that he accompany me into Dillard's and then we would go down to Sears that was located on the other end of the indoor mall. Wayne insisted that I park by Dillard's and he walk down to Sears.

After looking around Dillard's for a few minutes I got into the car and drove down to Sears. We had made previous arrangements that he would stay in the tool department at Sears until I came to pick him up. I looked all over the tool section for awhile and then decided to check upstairs to see if there were some tools there. I found a lot of appliances and furniture but not Wayne.

Wayne hadn't brought his phone with him so I couldn't call him, but he had played Scrabble with my phone while waiting for Stephanie to finish cutting my hair, so I knew that he could call me. I sat down on a lawn chair that was by the tool department in Sears for about 45 minutes and waited but still no Wayne. I figured that even if he had decided to go somewhere else that he'd come back to our planned meeting place.

I started wondering if I was going to have to stay until the mall closed before I found him. I went into the mall and decided to walk down to Dillard's because I knew that he didn't feel well enough to be walking around all that time. He was either sitting on a bench or had fallen asleep somewhere in the mall. On the way to Dillard's I took a left turn to the food court at the last second, just to make sure that he wasn't sitting in there. Guess who was looking for a Mountain Dew? Wayne's mouth hurt and he had decided that a Mountain Dew would help.

I was really relieved that I had finally found him. This could have gone on for hours and my visiting teachers were scheduled to visit in less than an hour from that time. Everything worked out just fine but I told him that from now on if he doesn't bring his phone I'm going to put a child leash on him when we go shopping. He actually agreed and said that he was O.K. with that. Ha! It's really my fault. I knew that he would never stay in Sears until I got there.

You could really have somthing there Kathy a husband leash! Perfect for malls, craft fairs, and any other activity husbands tend to wonder off at!! Lol... That is toooo funny! Definitely one of those times you need to find the humor in the situation! I'm glad you finally found him and that everything turned out ok!

Hi Kathy,
That is soooo hilarious! Poor you, wandering around the mall trying to find Wayne. I'm glad you found him safe and sound. You probably should invest in that hubby leash, just in case. HA! Hope Wayne's mouth feels better soon!
Love to you both,

Hey if I'd known Kathy--I could have come and helped you find him. I'm only blocks from Newgate! Glad you found him safe and sound. Also glad you made it thru that construction mess--it's terrible isn't it! It's supposed to be really nice when it gets done tho. Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

You know, when I read your headline, "I Lost Wayne"...I thought maybe he died. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions though. Of course he was lost. LOL.

Ok, Wayne thank you so much for making me feel less guilty. I'll forgive myself then for the box of ice cream sandwiches I went through when I was sick a couple weeks ago. Took me a day. It was the only thing that helped though with my throat.

Sugar Free Jello cups? I never heard of them.

Maybe we could start a new business? Ha!

I know how that goes, losing your husband. We go to Wal-Mart and try to get our stuff done faster by one of us doing this while the other is going somewhere else. Bad idea, usually ends up with "I thought I told you to stay here?" or " I thought you said you were going there?" UGH!!! Glad you found him and glad to hear his dental issues are being resolved.

They are the same the world over Kathy. My hubby NEVER stays put and even if he does have his phone he doesnt know its ringing . I could cheerfully strangle him at times lol

Men really don't like shopping, uh? Only when its what they want..like tools

I'm glad you found Wayne and he was okay. But Mountain Dew? Not my choice of drink. Jello is another soft food he can eat. I hope he get better in time for Indiana.

Aw, poor old Wayne! I'm glad you found him.
May I ask, what are you doing in Indiana next week?
Is it an official Osmond show?

Well the good news is Wayne must definitely be feeling better since he is strolling away like that. I think a man leash sounds good. Of course when there are times you want them to stroll away - then they don't.

A collar and a bell. All men need them. :)

I need a "husband leash" too. Mine is always wondering off while I am talking to him and I will turn around and no one is there or somebody I don't know thinks I am talking to myself and crazy. I will then call him on his phone and say "you can run but you can't hide" :)) I think he does it on purpose :)

One, I'm glad Wayne is feeling better and he looks pretty good in that picture. Him and Paul are so much alike - Paul could eat a whole box of ice cream sandwiches, anything ice cream.

As for letting him go alone shopping, well, it all worked out in the end. We try to stick together but I'm the one who tends to run off in another direction without telling Paul...but I start to panic just a little when I can't find him (even though I know he is still in the store). I can leave him in the tools area - half hour later - he hasn't budged from that area - what is it about tools that can keep a man in one spot for that long.....HAH!!!

Enjoy your trip to Indiana (it's where I'm from).....

So funny Kathy! One of the other funniest things I have seen was the Osmond Pillow fight on the aircraft after the Oprah Winfrey show. The video was posted by Donny on You Tube. Total fabulous chaos, children screaming and laughing and Wayne slept through it all! Were you on that flight?! must have been funny if you were!

Here's a suggestion! Ask the store to use their PA system and give him a holler, just in case he IS in the store. LOL Can you imagine? LOL Thanks so much for sharing your stories Kathy, I am SO enjoying them all!
