There was a delicious green salad at Panera Bread with strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, pecans, poppy seed dressing, etc. that was advertised as only 280 calories so I ordered one with the thought that I could go back and have the salad again. The next week they discontinued the salad so I guess I won't be able to recommend it to you. Anyone love a particular salad at a restaurant or fast food place that you'd like to share with us?
I lost a pound this week. Yeah! Keep plugging away and sooner or later we'll see success. I know there are friends that have lost a lot of weight since January that must not like to comment on the blog - we'd love to share in your success.

I lost a pound this week ;-) It's gotten hot again here and that's making it easier to keep going with my salads. Once the humidity drops and it starts feeling like fall, I start craving those wonderful carb-loaded meals. Does anyone else have that happen to them? As much as I hate the heat, it has been a diet-blessing this summer. Sandra in GA
I have been working alot merchandising stores I oversee for Fall. I'm also in inventory cycle so between the two I'm burning a lot more calories than usual! I lost another 2lbs this week! Yay!!
Have a great week!
aloha! I love panera bread! There is no panera bread on the Island! My favorite is the tomato Mozzarella salad. There is a local store that has delicious chicken sald the ingredients are shaved chicken, greens, avacados, tofu, sesame toppings, and balsamic vingeratte dressing. I need to get back on track going to the gym weekly starting tomorrow. I do need to lose some pounds! Thanks for all your encouragements and comments on the blog! Have a great week!
When I was in USA this summer I ate in Denny's restaurant "Cranberry Apple Chicken Salad" : Grilled chicken breast, glazed pecans, apple slices and dried cranberries a top a bed of crisp spring mix. Served with balsamic vinaigrette and dinner bread. I love it so much
hugs

I lost 2 punds this week, yeah!!! Been really watching in the evenings cuz that is when I have the most trouble.
As far as salads go, in Wisconsin we have a resturant called Noodles - they have a tomato and cucumber salad with probably a balsamic vinegar on it - don't exactly no what it is called but it is very good!!!
I agree with Sandra too, in the cooler weather it's harder to be satisfied with the "lighter" cuisine. But if you limit the rice and pasta and stock up on the veggies - you should do OK.
I have found that I lose the most weight first, cutting down on bread and pasta. I eventually cut out the bread, pasta and rice totally. I lost 5-7 pounds in almost 2 weeks. This is, of course, in addition to weighing what I eat, portion control and exercise. I have been lax on the exercise though. :-(
I agree with Sandra about wanting the carbs in fall. I just recently started back on my diet this week, and I hope I can do well with all the holidays right around the corner. When it gets this time of the year, my thoughts go right to pumpkin pie! Oh no!

I start teaching a soccer classes twice a week to preschooler. If that doesn't help with my weight???? My favorite salads are the ones Wendy's had. Sadly they have changed the menu so I guess I'm back to making my own. Kathy when do you go back to Utah?
We'll start driving back to Utah on December 17th - just in time for Christmas. In October we'll be in Bryant, Indiana the third weekend and Vegas the 4th weekend. After they close in Branson on December 11th we're probably going to bus to shows in Bernalillo, New Mexico, St. Charles, MO and Ada OK before driving back to Utah. I'll be so ready to go home!!!
I'll have to try out Denny's Cranberry Apple Chicken Salad. Wayne brought a Wendy's salad to the hotel after the show the other night and it was pretty good. It had chicken, apples and cranberries, etc. I used my own fat free dressing that I had here in the room. I haven't tried the Tomato Mozzarella salad at Panera either. Thanks for your suggestions.
Aaaaah....all of you ladies doing so well eatting salads! After doing so well the last 3 wks I had a Reeses blast attack at Sonic today!!! With extra candy no less! I think it was my total allotment of calories in a cup!!! Bad me! When one of you find a salad that includes chocolate and ice cream let me know! :)
Sorry everyone. We will be driving home from Branson on the 20th of December not the 17th. Thank you Laura for catching that. The Brothrs are doing a show in Ada, OK on December 18th.
Kathy someone's got to keep you guys in line!!! Ha Just kidding.....but originally I thought the show was on the 16th.....then had to get in my head it was the 18th....so yesterday you threw me for a complete loop!! You have to remember I am getting old!!! LOL Man driving back from Branson on the 20th of December....I do not envy you!!! Made that trip to Iowa a few times way back when!! Just be careful and drive safe!!! Hugs Hugs and more Hugs!!!
Hi Kathy-I've lost 12 lbs this month. Worked very hard. Walking 4 miles a day every day. And still keeping within 1200-1400 calories. I now way 220 lbs. Two hundred here I come :)
I've managed to lose about 6 pounds so far -- it's only been a couple of weeks and I had a birthday in there so I cheated a wee little bit! However, I am walking for an hour each night for a total of 3 miles. I don't have time to exercise any more than that -- I commute for 2 hours a day, work all day, then face the housework, laundry, supper and all that fun stuff when I come home! And talk to my mom for about an hour each night, keep in touch with my kids by phone and email, my dog likes her ball games....there just aren't enough hours in a day!! But I'm getting there. I don't let myself miss a day of walking and I'm keeping my calories around 1100 or less. It works..... Debby C -- keep up the good work!!
When I started reading Kathy's blog I pretty much skipped over this section and the Wii Fitters BUT as I began to read them you all inspired me!!! From early in the beginning of the year I was on a cane....the cane is gone and I can now walk up stairs one leg at a time rather than two legs per step! I have lymphedema in my legs so my legs are always very swelled, and I just knew that had done me in with any hopes of ever losing weight because it was so painful to walk.
Twenty one days ago I decided to give up sweets and soda for two reasons. I felt I needed to gain more control of my life and two I wanted to go to OK in December for the show. The last two days two different people have asked me how much weight I have lost....I have no idea because I don't have a scale. But all your talk of salads and walking and watching what your eating has helped me so tremendously!!! It still hurts to walk, but not as much as before. SO even though I don't "exercise" I am getting more walking in than I have ever had in the last three years!!! Thank you for all your inspiration!!! Ya'll Rock!!!!!
I just want to say well done to all you people out there who are doing so well with your diets. Even if you don't lose in one week don't give up - just try your best the next week. I had a bad day this week, gave up that day and just carried on the next and managed to lose 1lb. One of my friends was down because she 'only lost a quarter of a pound this week'. I just said - think how much a bag of sugar weighs (2lb here in the UK) and you have lost a quarter of that! I think when we say 'only 1lb' etc it doesn't look much if we put it on paper or just say it, but think about holding that bag of sugar and how much it weighs - we wouldn't be able to lift it for long before we have to put our arm down because the sugar weighs so much!
WELL DONE EVERYONE AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. xxxx
Congratulations to all of us who are losing, have lost and are trying real hard to lose. It is not easy, but with wonderful support like we have here, it truly DOES inspire and help. Now, I don't want to say this but...Halloween is kind of around the corner and it is going to take every strength I have to not steal away 2 candies, let alone one. CONTINUED SUCCESS!!!
