Worden DNA Project

A distant cousin, Doris Wheeler, on my Worden line has asked me to find a living direct line male descendant from Leonard, Benjamin and/or Peleg Worden. She is a member of the Worden Family Association and in charge of the DNA testing for the Worden/Werden/Wording/ Warden/ Wharton and similar family names. I'm not very familiar with this project so I'm going to have to do some studying.

My lineage is as follows Kathlyn White Osmond < William Worden White < Floyd Henry White < Edwin David White whose wife is Amy Denegar Mann. Amy Denegar Mann's parents were George Alexander Mann and Katherine Henrietta Worden. Katherine Henrietta Worden's father was Samuel Montross Worden < Leonard Worden < Benjamin Worden < Peleg Worden <  Daniel Worden < Samuel B. Worden II < Dr. Samuel Worden < Peter Worden II < Peter Worden I < Robert Worden < William Worden I who was born about 1503 in Lancashire, England.

This photo above is of Katherine Henrietta Worden Mann with her children. Amy Denegar Mann, my great-grandmother that married Edwin David White is the lady on the front row far left. Her mother, Catherine Henrietta Worden is the elderly woman in the photo above and the photo below.

Does anyone have any experience with family history DNA projects or any ideas on how I might go about finding a direct line male descendant of Leonard, Benjamin and/or Peleg?

I was thinking the same thing Debbie about Kathy's Great Grandmother!! Eerie how much we look like our ancestors.

Okay Kathy....you need to do what is called descendancy research. One of the best ways I have found to do this, is to take the three male names at the top you listed, and look for a family tree. If you can maybe find a family tree of someone who is tracing that line then maybe you can find that male descendants. This is how I found my 93 year old great uncle. Email me if you want some help!! I got room for ya!! Ha Ha Hugs!!! I hope this makes some sense!!!

Hey Kathy I went to rootsweb.com and did a search for the three Worden's you mentioned above. Alot of trees there. But the first one that popped up was by a lady named Doris. I emailed her. Her info looks pretty complete and the White name was not listed in her history. There are alot of other trees out there, I will try and get back to this later tonight and see if I can find any others that may have descendants in their line. I checked new.familysearch and didn't find much there as far as emails and folks to contact. Hope this will pan out for you!!! Hugs Laura

Laura, Thank you for helping me. I did the post from memory last night and forgot my grandfather, Floyd Henry White, in the line. Whoops! I'm sorry. I hope you haven't spent too much time.

The Doris you emailed is the same Doris that has asked me to find some descendants to test. It'll be interesting to see what she says. Don't you love her family website?
