As far as the weight goes, I am going to have to count calories. Even though I'm not eating sugar and drinking soda, I am eating too much. I've been replacing the sugar with other carbohydrates instead of vegetables and fruits. I guess I have to keep track of everything I eat in order to lose weight.
How is everyone else doing on their healthy eating habits?

Day 11 no Pepsi...The craving for Pepsi is slowly disappearing...I'm calmer and also have more energy. I have gotten this far might as well stay off the soda. It's saving me money and also better for my health. It seems that I gained 2 lbs...not sure why, I have not changed the way I have been eating. On Monday I will weigh myself and see if I have lost or gained weight.
I have successfully given up sugar. I get those night time sweet tooth but am eating applesauce instead of ice cream.
I am struggling with the soda but am only having one a day to keep the withdrawal headaches away. I will try and with draw myself to none slowly. I lost 4 lbs and am sleeoing better.
I'm doing pretty good with no pop. Haven't had any yet. I Really wanted a can of Squirt a couple of nights ago, through, it was hard to have pizza without pop. Maybe I ate less pizza, that would be a plus. Not sure if I've lost any weight but I'm pretty sure I haven't gained any either...yet.
WOW!!! I am so proud of all of you!!! Someone asked me today how many days and how I was doing. I can tell you it does get easier as you go along.
@Kathy--yeah I do the same thing and have to watch myself with substituting for other things. I try to get healthier stuff, and not the crackers etc because those are goners. Ha Ha I am going to try and get a scale this week to weigh on, then I can track myself better.
One big thing I noticed is that I don't get as impatient, or agitated as I did between Thanksgiving and New Years when I was on sugar. I wish I could say my sleep has changed....but no. =(
Good Job Everyone!!!
Haven't had any sugar or soda since we started. However, I've been sick with a bad cold, so my appetite has been almost non-existent for the past few days. Hoping to be able to keep on track after I feel better and my appetite returns. :o)
Yay to all of you who jumped on the bandwagon at the 1st of the year!! I guess I'm a slow starter!! I've not felt my best trying to get over a nasty sinus infection, so I'll use that as my excuse for bad food choices and NOT exercising! Ha! I think I needed a week or two after all the holiday hoopla to just 'be' and not be concentrating on to much of anything!
That being said..... I'm slowly getting my mind set back to good nutrition choices and exercise! I got the larger suit case out so I can pack my workout clothes with me when I travel during the week, so that will help! It does help me get motivated reading how well all of you are doing! Thanks for the encouragement! :) Have a great week!
I'm not doing the no sugar thing, but I am counting calories. Still having the same type of problem in the evening though. Work has been pretty stressful and I don't feel like making anything for dinner when I get home and if I do it is comfort food. So my evenings continue to be a downfall for me.
Sounds like all of you are having measures of success though - Congrats!!
There is no way I could stick to a diet like this. I love sugar and soda too much to even try. I wish you all great success with it. :)
I'm still trying to find that motivation to get going when I get home at night -- I empathize with Franki -- work + stress = little energy to make a healthy supper when I get home. I keep telling myself "tomorrow".....maybe one of these nights tomorrow will actually happen! To everyone trying to give up soda -- it does get eaiser -- I rarely drink any kind of soda - in fact, I feel sick when I drink it now. Nothing like a big glass of water! Keep up the good work everyone -- together we will meet our goals! Thanks Kathy for giving us this blog to work together.
I am doing great. In fact, I now teach a weight loss class once a week. I teach how to count calories and how many calories each person gets a day, activity, etc. I am excited. I've lost 170lbs in 4 years and I am so excited. Thanks for sharing with us.
Tracy, What did you do to lose all that weight and what do you do to make sure that you don't gain it back?
Kathy, I really would like to follow your friends and get some different ideas on losing weight.
I have committed myself to doing a 500km bike ride through the state of Victoria in Australia, in November this year. It is a 9 day ride, approximately 50 kilometres a day. I have purchased a bike and start training soon, so I am hoping I will loose weight and gain a good fitness level in preparation for the bike ride with my friends. Should also be a lot of fun and a wonderful experience!
