"An Apple a Day Bunch"

My weight is about the same as last week. I hope it is the same by the end of the cruise. Ha! I'm still going to keep my 3 goals for the next 2 weeks.

Wayne begged me to taste one of the cookies that he bought. It was small and without thinking I let him put it in my mouth. Then I remembered.  I could have spit the cookie out but, "Oh well." It did have sugar. The next day he brought home sugarless cookies, but I haven't opened the package yet.

I've been really good at not eating in front of the TV but now I am going to add not eating in front of the computer too.

My whole life I have eaten a snack before going to bed. Instead of the pretzels, crackers and bread, I've been eating some cottage cheese, fruit and/or nuts. I know the best would be not to eat anything after 7:00 pm but I'm not ready for that challenge yet - if ever. I must think I'm going to starve to death while I'm asleep.

How are the rest of the bunch doing? Let's report and keep up with our goals.

I have done a little better this week! Maybe Sandra's kick worked!! LOL... I have lost 2 lbs, but those of us who 'diet' on a regular basis know those first few lbs are water weight so I'm not getting toooo excited! OH well... at least it's a start!
I wore a black skirt to church this morning and it's normally loose around the waist, well, it fit! That again got my attention so I will remind myself of that skirt all week!
I go out of town and get back to my regular work schedule this week, so with that it's easier for me to stay away from tempting food!!

Have a WONderful time on the cruise!! I've started looking this weekend for possible summer vacations and looked at a few cruises. We have never been on one! I am so afraid of getting stuck in a storm and feeling the movement of the ship! I would hate to spend all that $$ and then be sick! Maybe some of you can ease my fear! I think my husband would love it! Especially the buffets! Ha!
Have a great time Kathy! Enjoy! Worry about the lbs when you get back!! :)

Terrible, terrible, terrible!!! But, I decided to wait and take a week off and get my head back on straight - LOL!!!!

I even made a chocolate cake Friday night - I had a taste for the cake batter - so I figured by Monday the cake would be gone.

I've also decided to cut back on my pop gradually and not all at once. When I try to go "cold turkey", I get massive/excruciating headaches (caffeine withdrawal I suspect). So, I am going to try and cut back to 1 can a day for the first week or so, then dropping off a day or two following that. Slowly I'll do it.

I am also going to go back and workout with the Xbox.....I've been busy on the computer all week, so now it's back to getting myself off that chair.

Glad to read some of you are doing great - that is my motivation.

Oh, Kathy - be careful with the sugar-free cookies. I ate about 5-6 one night at my father-in-law's. Never do that again. They didn't agree - HAH!!

Sherry, the artificial sweeteners make me sick too. I had some sugar free chocolate for the first time around Christmas and it didn't agree with me. Just to be sure I had some more a little later and I felt even worse that time.

Stacy, there are certain places on a cruise ship where you don't feel the motion as much. I think it is in the middle of the ship. Also you will feel a lot less motion the bigger the ship is.

The first cruise ship we went on was the smallest ship we have been on and the only time that I really got sea sick. Also many people take nausea medication while sailing.

Laura, I did read your blogs last week. Thank you for keeping me motivated!

Am going to get back on track with the eating too. I still need to count calories, it just works for me - I get too far off track if I don't. At some point in time I am going to go back to not eating anything after 7:00, that one really works for me too!!!

Good luck to all of us, after a year of practice we should all be pros at this, right?! hahaha!

You have to go easy on the artificial sweetners...especially maltitol. They will cause major stomach problems!!

When I cruise, I start taking ginger root pills a few days before leaving, then take 2 a day while on the cruise. No motion sickness!

No soda for 23 days. Since it is still morning of the 24th, I guess I can say 24 days without Pepsi.
I have lost weight, maybe 2lbs. My goal is to lose 25lbs. by the end of the year.

Have fun on the cruise.

Hi all!
I agree about the artificial sweeteners! I cannot handle ANY of them & I'm a diabetic! So, don't feel bad about not being able to handle them. For me it's the taste as well. My hubby tried to fool me once with a diet jello. I knew immediatedly from the taste that it had an artificial sweetener in it (asparatame.) There is always the bitter almost metal after-taste, then I got ill from it. There has to be a better way!
Congrats to all of you for hanging in there & not giving up! You still need to enjoy life. Everything in moderation!
Have a safe trip Kathy & don't do anything I wouldn't do! In other words, have fun & do whatever you want! Ha. Take care & God speed!
Love,
Vicki

Kathy I have to giggle about the Sugar Free Chocolate. I don't mind the taste, but after a couple of pieces, those tanks in Iraq don't have anything on me!!! Ha Ha I know what you mean by the upset stomach....for me it is no so much an upset stomach as it is uhm....gurgling and expansion? =) I learned a new acronym list on Facebook today one of which was: OMSG. Translated means: Oh My! Sorry, Gas!!! Sorry couldn't resist!!! Have a great time on your cruise!!!
