"An Apple a Day Bunch"

Wayne, Scott, Steve and I met this morning at 5:30 am in the lobby of the Suncoast to leave for the airport. Scott and Steve are on a different airline than we are, but we will all arrive in Tampa about the same time, rent a car and drive to the hotel.

Jimmy, Merrill, Mary and Jay are on an afternoon flight schedule. Gene and Bryan are on even a different flight schedule arriving in Tampa the very last. Not sure why it takes 4 different routes to get us all there.

Wayne is catching up on his potassium. He thinks everyone should have a banana a day and he hasn't had one for the past few days.

How is everyone doing on their healthy eating lifestyles? I'm not sure how I'm doing since I haven't weighed for a couple weeks. Let's report the first of each month with our goals and progress instead of once a week. Maybe we'll see more progress?

I've only been 100% consistent with one of the items on my "Power of Three Checklist." I haven't eaten any sugar or pop. The other two have been hit and miss. I haven't been keeping track of my calories the past week and I haven't had a glass of water before every meal. Here's my new list for the month of March.

1. Don't eat any sugar or soda pop until Easter.

2. Eat slower and stop eating before I feel too full.

3. When I'm tempted to binge at night - DON'T. I'm going to take a walk, work on family history or some other activity to help get my mind off of eating.

What are your 3 goals for the month of March? We all want to read what you are planning for the month! Maybe you'll give someone else a great idea that will help them too.

I haven't weighed myself yet, but I think I'm doing pretty good, my face looks smaller. I think it's a good idea to report at the first of the month. That gives me more time to hopfully lose some more. It will be shorts weather soon, and I hope to fit into mine good!

Love your goals! I gave up soda years ago. It can cause kidney problems (per medical research). But I love Sun Chips~~ug, straight to the hips.
1. No Sun Chips till summer (June).
2. No candy, of any kind (love Red Hots). July
3. When I'm on Ancestry.com, don't snack, I'm a snacker.

Have lost 2 #. Only 55 to go!

Thankyou for sharing your Vegas pics Kathy, great! I have just been on a 6 day skiing trip, on the go all day long, every day and I feel heavier! Never mind, like your goals! Think I will follow them. Have a great time in Tampa! x

Aloha! Wayne's eating the right food-a banana a day is good source of potassium for our body! Way to go Wayne! Sounds great to check in once a month! I haven't stepped on scale lately. I've started excercising every morning at the gym. When I'm tempted to snack I chew gum instead! I bought a pack of gum so far its working for me! I have to make sure its sugarless! LOL .

My 3 goals are:

1. prepare more healthy foods stay away from sugary foods and sodas
2. Drink lots of water daily!!
3. When I get the urge to snack I chew gum or grab an apple or banana or something healthy!

I've started reading "The Beck Diet Solution" by Judith S. Beck. Its basically retraining your brain to think like a thin person. The book was suggested to my husband prior to his lapband surgery. I really like the book it teaches anyone how to rethink and be in control of the way they eat. The Beck Solution book is more like creating a journal of how we think in terms of what we eat daily. I have both books. One of the quotes I like is "Don't expect your weight to go down every week-it won't." I would love instant weight loss but realistically it will come back on if I'm not careful with what and how we eat. The book offers great cognitive therapy techniques that will help change the way people think and eat. Its a great read and for the bookshelf!

Have a great trip to Tampa! Enjoy!

I'm with Wayne on eating a banana a day. I eat one every single morning. It's the perfect breakfast!
Kathy, thanks for posting the photos. I really enjoyed seeing what a great time everyone had in Vegas.

Kathy....Congrats on the no sugar and no soda. Now I have a question for you? What has made you be able to keep that goal compared to the others you have? I am just curious as to what changed. But congrats all the way around!!! I love the idea of reporting back in once a month!!

@Carolyn--I am going to look for that book at the library!! I so agree we need to program our brain differently. Thanks for sharing that tidbit with us!!!

I am still doing the no sugar no soda....although seeing those Three Muskateers on Sale and now laying off chips....HARD!!!! But so far so good!!

You all ROCK!!!
