Everyone in America and around the world seem just as intrigued and excited as you are in the UK for the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The wedding dress was a total surprise to everyone. Kate looked gorgeous! The last photo is of Kate at the wedding reception party that evening. I wonder why she didn't wear her wedding dress that evening too? Is it tradition?
I loved the lace on her wedding dress, the simple, elegant lines, long train and beautiful diamond tiara attached to the veil. I heard that many expected a more dramatic wedding dress like Princess Diana wore, but I think this gown is a little more modern and fits Kate's personality perfectly.
What are your opinions of the two beautiful gowns that she wore on her wedding day? My favorite was the wedding gown. How about you? Did anyone attend the event? This really feels like a fairy tale wedding of two young people very much in love.
After viewing the photos and wedding, I'd like to see Prince William become the next king. The couple seem perfect to be representatives of the royal family.
I'd love to hear all your opinions especially from our friends in England that probably know the real scoop. Please post your comments to share with us.

Well, I got up at 8am and wathced the BBC from 8:30! it was beautiful, I think the dress reminded me of the Queen's wedding dress, very regal and elegant. Mum & I had tea and salmon sandwiches and Battenberg cake on Union Jack plates and napkins! Our house and street was decked out in Bunting, and street parties were around the village.
I am thrilled that they are the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge as I am from East Anglia myself,
Cate will be a wonderful ambasseder for the UK
I agree and i think so does most of the UK we do not want Charles as King as we do not want THAT women on the Throne. The Queen is lovely and we she passes I would like Charles to abdicate and handover to Wills. He has to abdicate though as it is his birthright to be King. I am of to London tomorrow to see the flags. and I will be there for the Diamond Jubilee (God willing) next June.
:0)
It was a great day for England Kathy.
They are giving new hope for our Royal Family.
There has been much negativity, but these young people are of this world not the past, but they have all the respect of that world too.
We just watched it at home in HD. I watched some through one eye as I had the customary morning migraine, but it could not have spoiled my enjoyment. It was a really wonderful day.
Mid afternoon we got thunder and lightning here and a heavy downpour of hail. It was moving south, and we hoped it would not reach London. Thankfully, it did not, and the weather, which had been predicted to be bad, stayed fine.
I am a Londoner, but like Fi share the delight of Cambridge. Is is less than an hour from me, we live equal distance from Cambridge and Oxford. (Hoping to take your niece and nephew out there when they visit this year. They will love it.) Great part of the country.
I liked the wedding dress the best. Very traditional and understated. I also prefered Harry's uniform to William's, but everyone looked great, and the smiles said it all. You asked why she changed clothes. It depends on the timing. My son and his wife had morning wedding and evening reception. So they changed their clothes. It is not unusual.
I disagree with Fi on Charles becoming King though.
We think he has waited a long time and would make a good King. Also William and Kate should have some time to be normal first. Charles was wrong to listen to his family and marry Diana, but it is too late for all that. Camilla by all accounts is a lovely woman, and her step sons think so too. I would be happy to see her with Charles on the throne. If his sons and the Queen can accept her, so can I. (sorry Fi).
I can almost remember the Coronation. Maybe I recall what my parents told me, but we had a TV and I watched it. So next year is a landmark. Won't see you there Fi (you know my health), but you will have a great time for us both.
Glad America enjoyed it as much as we did Kathy. :)
I got up at 5:00am just in time for the wedding to start. I was soo wired at work yesterday, but when I went to church for all night prayer, I was fading fast. LOL But it was soo worth it. My first royal wedding.
It was a great wedding. I heard 2 billion people watched the wedding. That's a lot of people.
Kate look beautiful. I loved her dress and I would had wore something like to my future wedding down the road. I love her evening gown dress, but I don't like the jacket. The evening gown kinda looks like a wedding dress just a little.
Pippa's gown was beautiful too. Very nice.
I loved the new picture of them. They look so happy. I loved when Prince William was driving a car with his bride as they left the palace of course with one car behind them.
I was just surprise to see how calm and well behaved the crowd was especially when the people were walking to Buckingham Palace. It was just shocked.
What I like about Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is their love doesn't look fake or forced. You can tell they are soo in love. Plus Prince William didn't married another princess. He married an typical ordinary girl who never thought she would be dating or even married to royalty.
I was only 1 when his parents go married. So I really don't remembered that time since I was just a little baby. Now 30 years later, I watched their son get married.
I was reading online that some people would like to see Prince Harry and Pippa get together.
Congrats to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
I loved the royal wedding! I didn't see it in full (it was 1 a.m. when it aired), but I have been watching clips and a pre-wedding documentary. I agree with all of you--it seems like their love is real and that they have taken their time on it to make sure that they're doing the right thing. I feel sorry for Charles, even though I love Di, because it sounds like he has loved Camilla from the beginning. I hope they are finally enjoying each other's company as a married couple.
I loved this wedding. I found Kate a few days before the wedding. A young prince who married a beautiful young girl, distinguished, elegant and natural .... a real fairy tale. Her wedding dress was magnifique.Ils were beautiful. We felt their love, their complicity much more than marriage of Diana and Charles. I really enjoyed when they left in the car! it's very nice and modern! Like you, I'd rather see Kate and William become king and queen in place of Charles and Camilla. I wish them all my wishes of happiness.
Cathy France
Amy, your comments about Charles and Camilla echo my sentiments. There were faults on both sides with he an Diana, and it is so sad what occurred between them.
He should have done as his son has and followed his heart and not "the firm". But those close to him say he is now truly happy, and it seems his sons are too.
As far as I know William and Harry are in full approval of Charles and Camilla and that includes the throne. There is plenty of time for William to be King, and his life will be normal for longer if Charles becomes King, which after waiting so long he deserves. His Grandmother clearly wanted that for him as well.
Whatever happens, we have the Jubilee to look forward to as Fi said, and if it's anything like yesterdays's celebrations, I think we will all enjoy it. Glad you enjoyed the wedding Amy :)
I am from Scotland Kathy and very proud to be British. This was a day which united everyone and brought people together from all over the world (a bit like an Osmonds concert does!).It was a beautiful amazing day. I have no doubt when the time comes,Charles will make a great King and none of us can judge Camillia,I don't think. We don't know her and both her and Charles seem very happy. We cannot change what happened with Dianna, although it is a day none of us in the UK will forget, least of all her family.
Best wishes to William and Kate, they look amazing together.....and they did meet at St Andrews, of course!
Catherine's dress was wonderful. Fashion journalists and other designers seemed so happy that it was Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, who was given the commission. She has had a challenging year at a number of levels but she and her team are known for their attention to detail and craftsmanship, as well as discretion!
The dress, I suspect, will become a historical heirloom and will be carefully stored to preserve it. This will be part of the reason for the change to a similar, though less embellished and slightly more informal gown for the evening celebrations which carried on into the early hours of the following morning.
William wore the regimental uniform of his recent appointment as Colonel-in-Chief of the Irish Guards, so to some extent the choice was made for him. The pageboys' outfits were based on his uniform, with small shamrocks embroidered on the collars.
The lace and embroidered detail on the skirt of Catherine's wedding dress also included shamrock, daffodils and thistles to represent Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, constituent countries, alongside England, of the United Kingdom. The English workmanship, alongside these emblems, ensured that the dress was seen as embracing all traditions of the UK.
I think they look beautiful together. :)
kathy, i have been in london since last sunday. i leave for the states tomorrow (regrettably). i use to reside in london and was living here when charles & diana and andrew & fergie married. the whole day was beautiful! i was all over the place trying to pick the idea spot: trafalgar sq, horse guards, parliment sq. i ended up in parliment sq and was there during the ceremony. the crowd was wonderful! happy, cheerful people! i met people from all over the world during my week in london. on the day of the wedding i arose at 6am to find a idea spot.
wills & kate are now at windsor castle. the honeymood won't occur til later in the year. where, we still do not know-but, it's really none of our business.
i had to fly out for the wedding. as soon as the engagement was announced, i began making plans to attend. nobody does pomp and pageantry like the brits.
the crowd was as well behaved as at the foresaid weddings. i wish wills and kate a success with their marriage
Catherine Middleton is beautiful. Here in the USA, I didn't get to see the whole wedding but oh, how I loved Catherine's dress. My prayer for them is happiness and lots of love! I'm amazed how many more people we have making queries to the Middleton family tree on ancestry site. Heck, maybe her being Middleton will help get that tree totally completed! THANKS TO ALL the UK, Ireland, Scotland members for sharing, how wonderful of you all!
Hi Kathy! It was a wonderful experience watching the ceremony. Kate looked so beautiful in that dress, such a gorgeous bride!I loved the cut of the dress, the lace & loved hearing about the tiara she wore that was given to Queen Elizabeth on her 18th B-Day. The fact that it belonged to her mother before she received it, made it even more special. I think it's wonderful when special mementos are handed down generation to generation. What a history! She reminded me of Princess Grace. She was so poised, yet you can tell she is so down to earth & they are so much in love. When I watched it all on tV, I just cried. I don't even know why. Guess I'm just sentimental. Ha. It just brought back memories of my daughter's wedding.
Kathy, Kate & you resemble each other. Just look at your picture from your wedding day! Absolutely gorgeous & also so in love! :-) And look at you & Wayne today! Such the perfect couple! I think William & Kate will be a wonderful addition to the throne!
I woke up EARLY (3:30 a.m. EDT) and LOVED it! Catherine's dress was simple but elegant. I loved when she got up to the aisle and William leaned in and said "you look beautiful." I loved those little looks they gave each other through out the day. And the two kisses!
I feel bad for Charles because he's loved Camilla from the beginning but he was not allowed to follow his heart and marry her. I'm glad he finally did so and seems to be at such a happy place. It's a shame that Diana never really had that chance.
