When I arrived at the Springfield Airport this evening, Wayne was waiting for me and passing the time by doing a crossword puzzle. We're now in Branson and looking forward to spending the next two days having fun together. Any suggestions of your favorite places to visit in the Branson area? The shows don't start again until Wednesday, May 11th at 8:00 pm in the Caravelle Theater.
Congratulations to those of you that finished the Old Testament with us! I'm the most surprised that I finished reading the whole book. It was a lot easier to complete the goal by reading 2 chapters a day or 14 chapters a week with all of your help and encouragement. By reading a little at a time - we have accomplished a huge goal. At least it's a big goal for me.
Congratulations especially to FRANKI and MOMROCK (Kathy R.) who I know have finished reading the Old Testament with us. There may be others who have been diligently reading along and completed the reading but are too shy to post. Thank you to everyone that participated along the way even if you haven't completed the reading yet!
If we start tomorrow reading Matthew Chapters 1 through 14 and continue reading 14 chapters a week we will be finished with the New Testament before the end of the year. Right now Shundra, Franki, Momrock, Kim in PA and Silviamag have posted that they would like to read the New Testament with us. Silviamag are you reading the New Testament in English or Spanish?
Congratulations Franki on your 30th Wedding anniversary tomorrow. That is wonderful!
If you have any ideas or suggestions to make "Wonky's Book Worms" better please post your comments. I liked the format of posting how we can apply the reading that we did during the week to our own personal lives instead of focusing on our interpretation of doctrine. I'm sorry if any of my comments made you feel uncomfortable or threatened. That wasn't my intention at all. I really enjoyed reading your comments and insights. Thank you for contributing.
We hope to have anyone and everyone that is interested in reading the New Testament along with Wonky's Book Worms to join us. Please feel free to invite and encourage all your friends and family. If you have any concerns or doctrinal questions you can contact us at wonkthedonk@gmail.com
Happy reading!!!

Hi Kathy and Wayne,
I'd love to study the New Testament with you. I'd really appreciate it, as I have no way to get to church at this time. I use an electric wheelchair and there is no way to transport it.
The missionarie bring me sacrament every week and I am really grateful for that. This will be a perfect opportunity for me.:-) THANK YOU
Lisa Marie Kreiter
I'm glad you made it to Branson after helping with your new granddaughter. I'm sure Wayne has missed you. As far as things to do in Branson, Joye and I never go to Branson without riding the Ducks. Its 80 minutes long. The drivers are very funny, and you get a short boat ride too. We have taken that ride 5 times over the years and it always seems to be worth the time and price. Other than that, I hear the Osmonds have a good show :).....Whatever you do, have fun. You both work too hard to not have fun when you can.
I would love to do this with you also.
I have tried to do this many times and always get side tracked.
I would love to join you in reading the New Testament so count me in.
Cathy
Hi - I would love to read the New Testament with you, it is ok that I am not LDS, but am a Christian (Catholic)? I am sure that is a silly question but wanted to make sure. Leslie
Kathy. I agree with Mike. Try the Ride the Ducks. I always wanted to do Ride the Ducks. I'm definitely going to do it in September.
Catch other shows. Is their a show you or Wayne wanted to see, but couldn't because they were going on at the same time as the Osmond shows? I heard the Six show is good. They're not that far from ya'll at the Hughes Brother Theatre. I want to see their show in September.
You have the Hollywood Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
There's probably more, but I know that's what I want to do.
I can't wait to start back reading. I've been slipping these last few months and I'm ready to start over.
Wayne looks so handsome in that suit!
I would like to read with you as well! :)
Count me in!
Kathy!!! So glad you're in Branson! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Count me in on reading the New Testament. Didn't get too far on the Old Testament, but will try to be more diligent this time on the New Testament!
Things to do huh? Let's see...Ride the Ducks is good, but I'm not sure if they are going out on the lakes at this point because of the high water. You might want to check on that as the trip on the water is half the fun!
Give me a call at the Hughes Brothers Theatre and I can get you in to see any of our 3 shows -- Hughes Brothers, SIX and JEERK!! Okay...until the weekend when they have a 2pm show, the 10am start time for JEERK might be a bit early! ;-) But Hughes & SIX switch off between 2pm and 8pm. Since I manage the call center at the theatre, I know I can get you in and get you GREAT seats!!
Also, I LOVE going out to Dogwood Canyon! It's absolutely beautiful out there. They have hiking trails, or you can ride horses or take the tram tour. Be sure to take your camera as it is so pretty out there.
And of course, you could always take a drive down to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the day. Such a fun, quaint little town built on the hillside. They call it "Little Switzerland" and you quickly see why once you're there!
Okay..those are my suggestions. I'd usually say Silver Dollar City, but they're closed until Wednesday this time of year.
I´m read in Spanish
In july 2010 in the flooding for Huracan Alex
I lost my bible in the water, my bible was Spanis - Englih and I need to buy new one but I can´t do it now, Thanks of God I have my Spanish Bible
I follow to read in this Bible

Kathy
Count me in on the reading!! I should have done the Old Testament with you....but I will do the New Testament.
Hugs Laura
I have reading the New Testament along with the Book of Mormon. I would love the read the New Testament with you guys. I love reading the miracles, parables and teachings of Jesus Christ. Love you both
Hi Wayne, I would love to read the New Testament with you and Kathy. I have to be honest in all my years as a member of the LDS church I have not read the entire Bible all the way through. I have read the Book of Mormon ll the way through..many times.. I am up for the challenge. I read your book "Laugh Lines" that your daughter Amy gave me so I think I better be able to commit to reading the "New Testament" Lets do it!
I'm going to read it with you also! I've been needing some sort of kick start and I think this just might be it! Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to say about the scriptures.
Can't give you any advice about Branson, never made it down there yet. I'm sure you'll find something fun to do!
Hi Kathy, I'm a new LDS member and have never read the New Testament in totality....this is a great idea....count me in. Kim Webster
I'm going to read the New Testament with everyone too. Should be fun.
Julie
I would like to try to read along with you, there are parts of the New Testament that I have never read. Count me in
Leslie, we would love you to read the New Testament with us. Everyone and anyone that would like to read The New Testament is welcome. It doesn't matter what religion or church affiliation you are. Thanks for joining us!
Hi Kathy, You know that I am in. I love reading my scriptures daily & have found that when I read every morning, that the Lord prepares me for whatever may come my way that day & I am much better prepared to handle it. I find that applying what I have learned from the scriptures that day brings me closer to the Lord. I have read the New Testament many times, but always learn something new each time. I love reading about the Savior's life & feel that when we read it as a group, it will be a very special experience.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the group. I know that as individuals, we all may get something different from the reading & when we share what we have learned, our eyes may be opened to something new. I know that many times in my life my prayers have been answered by another. It is such an amazing learning & growing process. As we learn more about the Lord & His life, we learn to love Him more & love others too. I know by each of us sharing, our lives will be blessed.
Darren & I love you & Wayne Kathy. We will be doing this together. I think it brings us closer as a couple & family when we share experiences like this. We are looking forward to getting to know you all better. We believe that as you share your experiences, we can learn much from each of you. Thanks for this opportunity.
I do have a suggestion. Before you read, say a prayer that the Lord will be with you as you read. Every morning before I read, I pray that my heart & mind will be open to the spirit & that as I read, the Lord will let me know what He wants & needs me to know so that I may better serve Him & others. It does make all the difference. I hope that I have not offended any one. Thank you for letting me share & be a part.
We look forward to seeing you & Wayne soon Kathy. God Bless you both, your family & all fellow bloggers. Let's Go... I'm ready! :-)
Love,
Vicki Peterson
P.S. silviamag, if you will send me a note to my email address, I will be happy to send you a new Spanish/English Bible. I am so sorry that yours was lost/ruined in the flood. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
email: dvcdc1982@gmail.com
Of course I am in. Started reading last night. Are you going to post the schedule at least this first time so we all kind of get an idea where we are at? Going on what we were doing I have that as of Saturday this week (the 14th) we should have read through Matthew chapter 12, is that right?
Thanks Kathy for the wishes on our anniversary, it was amazing!!!
Well happy reading to all who are coming on board with this, it is a great motivator to read and the conversations that ensue are awesome as well.
I bet Wayne is glad you two are together again!!! Have some fun before he starts working again. I would suggest walks, we discovered some really neat little parks just on the outskirts of town when we were down there.

Kathy,
I would love to read the New Testament with you. I'm LDS but have been inactive for quite some time now. Even so, I'm still very spiritual and would love to get back into reading the Scriptures again.
Warmly,
Terri
Are we going back to checking with this one once a week again or is this going to be once a month like the weight thing? This one might be hard to do every month - kind of like reading everyone's comments on a weekly basis, it helps with the whole accountability thing. Also, I just think it would be easier to stay on track if we were commenting every week. I know that is alot for you to do Kathy, I do think though out of the three things we keep track of this one is by far the most important. Just my thoughts....
I'm in too! I want to read the New Testament together with all of you, and I'll be reading it in Swedish. No matter, the words of the Lord are the same in any language, I'm sure it will work fine!
That's really cool that we will be reading in different languages together. I think that Franki's right about keeping track of what we are reading every week. I love to read everyone's weekly comments.
Carol, are you going to the show Friday night? I'll try and make it too.
Is this where we post for the NT reading group?
