"Wonky's Book Worms"

Did anyone finish the New Testament reading? Wow! We have now read the entire bible. These reading goals are helping Wayne and I with our scripture reading anyway. We hope there are others that are enjoying their scripture reading with us.

Wayne and I would like to read The Book of Mormon next, since that is the book of scripture that we will be studying in Sunday School next year, starting in January 2012. If we read one chapter a day or 7 chapters a week we could read the book easily within the year.

If you don't have a copy of the Book of Mormon, you can send for a copy at mormon.org or read it online. There is also a free app for the Iphone, and other mobile devices. I'd like to have the Book of Mormon read to me, while I follow along this year. This way I will be able to hear how all the names and other words that I'm not familiar with are pronounced.

Everyone is welcome to join us and read the entire Book of Mormon in your native language for the year 2012? Is anyone going to join us?

Hi Kathy, I hope to see you all on Sat. in Branson. I am bringing my granddaughter again, she is 8 and loves the Osmonds. She has never gotten to meet Jimmy, so I am going to surprise her. She loves Wayne and thinks he is so funny, he makes me laugh when I don't think I have any laughter in me. Can't wait!

Actually just checked on Barnes and Noble site and there are several available Do you have a recommendation. I had to download 2 or 3 versions of the Bible because of typo errors I would like to avoid that in the Book of Mormon if you have a recommendation

LDS Scriptures App now available for NOOK Color
Just an FYI for all the NOOK Color users, LDS Scriptures App is now available and is a fully featured app not just an ebook. The navigation is super easy and all the features like notes, bookmarks, highlights, and tags are available. It's from LDSScriptures.com, the one with the golden plates icon.

This is a comment found on the above site.

For 99 cents you can purchase the Book of Mormon by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Barnes and Noble's website. This is the book we will be reading. I wasn't aware that there were other versions of the Book of Mormon.

I've already started to read the Book of Mormon a while ago, but I find it hard to do. I hope I can keep up with you, this will stimulate me to keep studying! :o)

I am so excited to be reading the Book of Mormon in Sunday School. One of my wishes for next year would be to take a trip to Carthage and Navoou. To see church history. I was just a young girl who had just joined the church when our Seminary class went to the US to view church history sites. And 5 years ago they went again, and of course I missed it.
Our Bishop took his family this summer. Have you and Wayne every taken your children/grandchildren?
Oh yeah for whatever reason I can't post with my name. Carolyne Bamforth http://niverville.blogspot.com/

I'm in! As a member of the church I have read the Book of Mormon thousands of times, and every time I read it I get something more out of it. This will be fun reading with a group and chatting about it.

Yes I did finish reading the Bible with you guys!! I have thoroughly enjoyed the conversation it has promoted here and it was fun to hear others thoughts on things. I wish Wayne would have joined in on the blog more, I so love hearing what he has to say about the scripture.

I will not be joining in this next year. I have begun some classes at our church and I have lots of homework. Also, a co-worker whom I have spoken to about our reading has expressed an interest in beginning to read through the Bible - I think I will be joining him so we can discuss the readings.

I will miss this...

Congratulations Franki on reading and completing the Bible! Wayne isn't into using the computer that much, which really surprises me because he used to use a computer all the time before Windows came out. He doesn't type that fast so I'll usually type his comments for him.

Carolyne, so many others have had problems commenting on this blog. Sometimes when the Internet is really busy I've noticed that the whole blog doesn't even download, so I'll come back at a different time. Did you click on the word "FOLLOWERS" when the members photos are displayed? Right now there aren't any photos or members listed on the right, so you wouldn't be able to sign up as a follower if you tried. If you come back later and the photos are there, you should be able to click on "FOLLOWERS" and sign in. Your name will only show up after you have signed up as a "Follower" and sign in to make comments.

Marja, will you be reading the Book of Mormon in English?

Kathlyn Osmond said...

Carolyne, the photos are up again and there is a blue box with writing that says, "Join this Site" under the word "Followers." Click on the box to register. If you have already registered then you just need to "SIGN IN."

Kathy, yes, I'm going to try. I also have a Dutch copy, so I'll be able to look up the things I don't understand.

Kathy,
I am bad I never did read finish reading the New Testament. I need to do better and start reading again. I read the Our Daily Bread everyday, which is just one little page, each day it has where to go read scripture in the Bible.
Also, I am very, very, disappointed that you and the Brothers aren't going to be in Pigeon Forge in Nov. Rhonda and I had really good seats both night and were looking forward to seeing all of you again. Haven't had a change to tell Rhonda yet, she will be upset too. I called the Theater and the Hotel and canceled everything this morning. Maybe sometime in the future you guys will be back there again.
Cannot believe today is the first day of fall, where has the year gone?

Marja, I'd read The Book of Mormon in the language that is the easiest for you to read in. You would enjoy it more.

Dot, The Brothers are planning on going to Pigeon Forge again but just not in 2011. I didn't know it was cancelled until a couple days ago myself.

Thank you Kathy, I will do that. X

How is this going? Even though I'm not reading with you guys, I would love to get in on any conversations about the readings. I miss our conversations from the Bible reading, my friend and I have just started Exodus. I am going through the Bible again, it's exciting when some one who is not normally a scripture reader wants to read and talk with you about the scriptures. Let me know how this is going.....
