Fun at the Orleans!

Fun to see Arlene again!

Viva Las Vegas

Utah is so beautiful right now with all the fall colors. Two friends stopped by and posed for a photo. We hated to leave home but Vegas here we come!

We arrived in Las Vegas this afternoon! "Hi" from Jay.

I think Wayne's getting tired of me taking his photo?

Noah came trick-or-treating a little early this year so we wouldn't miss him. His other grandma made him this darling lion costume.

We're excited for the shows starting tomorrow night. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of your Halloween costumes at the Spooktacular on Saturday night after the show!

Mr. and Mrs. Alex Osmond

Thursday, October 20, 2011, Jessica Martin, daughter of Tracy and Lori Martin and Alex Osmond, son of Alan and Suzanne Osmond became husband and wife for time and all eternity. They were sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. There was a reception held in their honor for the happy couple at Wadley Farms in Lindon, Utah that same evening.

Because Wayne had a show in Branson Thursday night, we were not able to able to attend this special time with them We would have loved to be in attendance at their sealing in the temple and the evening festivities. Congratulations to the happy couple! We love you!

It Has To Be A First!

Wayne and I don't remember ever arriving at an airport after a flight 1/2 hour early? We flew out of Springfield yesterday morning to Chicago and then to Salt Lake City. We surprised Michelle, who picked us up, with our early arrival. Can anyone beat that record?

Early this morning the cousins met at our house to play. Grandma missed them all. What wonderful memories we made playing together.

Bogged Down By Life?

My daughter, Michelle, emailed this quote to me and I thought maybe some of you would enjoy reading it and benefit from applying this concept in your lives.

The average woman today, I believe, would do well to appraise her interests, evaluate the activities in which she is engaged, and then take steps to simplify her life, putting things of first importance first, placing emphasis where the rewards will be greatest and most enduring, and ridding herself of the less rewarding activities.
-Sister Belle S. Spafford, the ninth Relief Society general president.

Michelle wrote:

When I read this, I felt like this quote had the potential to really change my life for the better! It was the perfect thing for me to find. I'm becoming bogged down by things in my life that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. So, from this quote, I was encouraged to make the following lists to get to know myself better and to refocus my energy: (1) my interests, (2) my activities, (3) actions I can take to simplify my life, (4) my priorities list, (5) my longterm goals (enduring rewards), and (5) activities I can cut to make my life less stressful.

I think women often fall into the traps of being perfectionists, pleasers, and superwoman-figures. If we really focus on what's important to us and get rid of the rest of the static in our lives, we'll find more peace, and we'll be sure to focus on what's actually important in the longterm.

Michelle is in a very busy stage of life. She is completing her MBA right now and will graduate in the Spring. She is also working part-time, giving service to her Church, community and is a busy wife, sister, friend, aunt, cousin, niece, daughter and grand-daughter, etc.

All women have so many different roles that I agree we would be happier if we cut out some of the fluff that bogs us down and put our most important goals and what means the most to us first. Before I use a lot of energy getting upset or stressed out I think to myself, "Is this really going to matter tomorrow, next week, in 10 years, 20 years, or in the next life? That seems to put things in perspective for me pretty fast.

What have you found that works for you when you get bogged down and stressed out? Please share by posting your comment below.

Thank you everyone for the exciting show!

Last night the Osmond Brothers had a very special show because of all our friends that were in the audience. There was an Osmond Family Theater Employee Reunion earlier in the day where about 70 past employees that worked at the Osmond Family Theater reunited. They came from many different states where they are now living, to see and visit with each other. It was exciting to have most of them join the Brothers at the show in the evening. It brought back so many wonderful times and memories. We all still feel like one big happy family!

The "Mystery Tour" group organized by Jenny were also in the audience. They are from Belgium, France, Switzerland, Wales and England. They added a lot of fun to the show when they started dancing with The Brothers on the chorus of "Let the Reason Be Love." Several bus groups and others that drove to see the show also added to the excitement.

Next year will be the first year The Osmonds won't be performing in Branson for over 20 years straight. We are going to be really busy in the United Kingdom for months with shows almost every day and many other dates around the world that have been scheduled and others that are yet to be announced.

Come join all the fun finishing out this year with shows in Vegas, Christmas shows in Branson and a Christmas Tour in December. Don't miss the fun in 2012 too! We love you all! Thanks for all your support for the Osmond Family all these years. We're looking forward to a 60th anniversary show.

Father Osmond's Best Birthday Gift Ever!

After 7 sons, George and Olive Osmond had a precious little daughter they named "Olive Marie." Wayne remembers his father almost in tears when he found out that a sweet baby girl, born on his birthday, October 13th, had joined their family. How special it was for Father Osmond and Marie, his only daughter, to celebrate their birthdays together every year.

Wayne knows that he was 8 years old when Marie was born because he had just been baptized, not too long before his mother went to the hospital and Marie was born. He can still see himself and his brothers standing outside the Dee hospital in Ogden, Utah, looking up to the window where his mother was standing and holding Marie up, so her brothers could see her for the very first time. Marie's brothers stood on the lawn outside the hospital and sang "Ain't She Sweet" to their new baby sister. What a joyous day it was for the whole family!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIE!
WE ALL LOVE YOU!!!

Marie's Early Birthday Gift

Twenty-six years ago on October 12, 1985, Marie and Dan Seals duet, "Meet Me in Montana" hit #1 on the US Billboard Country Hot Singles Chart! This was Marie's 2nd #1 US Billboard Country Hot single after "Paper Roses" that hit #1 in 1973. "Meet Me in Montana" earned Marie and Dan the "Country Music Association Vocal Duo of the Year" award in 1986. It seems like yesterday to me.

Dancing With The Stars

Tonight I got on Google Plus while watching "Dancing With The Stars." Shundra and I texted back and forth through the whole TV show so now she has caught me up with what's going on, since I've only watched one other week this season. Donny and Cher were in the audience tonight.

It would be fun to watch the show together tomorrow night at 8:00 central time. I'm just sitting in the hotel room while Wayne is working hard. If you want to join us you'll need to sign in to your Google Plus account and include "Wayne Osmond" in one of your circles, so I can make sure that you're added.

I'm using the "Wayne Osmond" account right now to learn how to use Google+. This sounds pretty fun to me, but I guess everyone's been doing this on Facebook for a long time. I just didn't know that. As far as I can tell there isn't a limit of the number of people we can add. Hope to chat with some of you tomorrow night.

It was also fun reading many other comments today on Goggle+. I'm learning a little more about how this social network works every day. This will be fun to try out and get more acquainted you and with Goggle+.

Columbus Day

Are you on Goggle Plus?

Having received many invitations for Google+, Wayne and I had fun this weekend signing up and trying to get oriented with Google Plus (Google's social networking site). There seems a lot to learn but we are confident that we will enjoy using it. Wayne is a little frustrated with the technology, but once we get it set up correctly I think it will be easier because we can go directly to our other social networking sites from a top tab under "About" on Google Plus.

I'm not going to have my own account (at least for right now) but help Wayne with his. Having mostly the same friends, traveling together and spending most of our time with each other, plus having the same relatives, will make our updates about the same. We sent out a few invitations but would like anyone who would like to join with us to sign up. It's now open to everyone. You will need to sign up with a google email account before signing up for a google account and then Google Plus.

I've heard the Goggle Chat and Google Hangout (video chat) on Goggle Plus is better than other social networking sites. It is a combination of twitter and facebook with games, photos, etc. We particularly like the grouping circles that we can set up for better privacy and how we can access all our social networking profiles, Wayne's website and the blog from Google Plus.

For those that have already been using the site, what have you found that you like the best about Goggle Plus?

A Family Month?

The day after the September 11th attacks, Senator Orrin Hatch formally introduced October as Family History Month. It has been 10 years since the legislation was passed in the United States. It's a month to learn about your heritage as well as making new family memories.

How are you going to celebrate this month?

Aha!

We have all had an "Aha" moment in time. We may not know what it is called or we may call it by another name. It is a precious moment of clarity that makes us stop whatever we are doing and say, "Aha! I get it. I really get it!" We are fascinated with these moments, whether they happen to us or to someone else.

Today I had an "Aha" moment. It may sound silly to you, but it made me stop and think. I was walking around the Tanger Mall enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather, while listening to the soft music that was playing in the background, when I looked up and saw a beautiful Monarch butterfly scooping and soaring in the clear, blue sky above. I stopped to watch, when immediately the thought came to me, "I wonder what Mother Osmond thinks and feels about everything that is going on in the world today and in her family right now." Then a thought of wisdom came.

"We aren't judged by what happens to us when it is beyond our control, only HOW WE RESPOND to what happens."

I've known that information ever since I can remember, but at that "Aha" moment, the thought was embedded upon my soul and I felt a calm peace with a reassurance that everything was fine.

Mother Osmond always loved butterflies and decided that I would collect butterflies after she saw three butterfly magnates on our refrigerator that Merrill and Mary had given us for Christmas. She had been trying for a long time to get me to decide on something to collect, since she was collecting "owls," Suzanne "frogs," Mary "bears," and Marie "elephants."

Was it a coincidence that Mother Osmond passed away on Mother's Day?  After her funeral, we all gathered on this very bright, sunny day for her graveside service. Three very large, beautiful Monarch butterflies almost flew right into me before they caught my attention. I thought I was the only one that noticed them, but more than a year later Marie was talking about how much her Mother loved butterflies and the beautiful butterflies that she observed at her mother's graveside service. I've always loved and been fascinated with butterflies since a child, but now whenever I see a butterfly, I also have sweet, warm memories of Mother Osmond.

Please share an "Aha" moment that you have had by commenting.
I'm really looking forward to reading them.

What is General Conference?

CLICK HERE to learn about General Conference and to read, listen or watch the talks over the Internet

I really enjoyed President Monson's Sunday morning talk. He emphasized that God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His commandments are always the same and don't change. The ten commandments aren't just suggestions but they are GOD'S COMMANDMENTS.

What a different world it would be if everyone kept the ten commandments.

What part of conference did you enjoy the most?

"An Apple a Day Bunch"

It's October 1st!
How is your healthy lifestyle?

I started out doing really well in September and ended pretty good, but in between I was horrible! I know I've gained weight because my clothes are tight. I don't have any scales to weigh on, but I know I've gain a lot.

I've discovered that every one's idea of what junk foods are is different. I keep telling Wayne not to buy me any junk food and he'll come back to the hotel room with candy, cake, donuts, cookies, pop and cinnamon rolls. I really love cinnamon for some reason. I love cinnamon gum, candy, cinnamon rolls, etc. and Wayne knows that.

A few days ago I decided to go back on Laura's no sugar, no soda diet because Wayne thinks the above foods are good for me or at least that's what he tells me. If I say no sugar, no pop then he should be able to figure that out a little better I'm hoping.  I also hate to see food go to waste. I don't know why he loves to feed me all the time?

I'm going to stay on this no sugar, no soda diet until the Halloween party in Vegas. Is anyone planning on attending the Spooktacular after the Saturday night show at The Orleans? It sounds like it's going to be fun, but will we be able to recognize each other?
