After having a blood test at the lab and picking up mail at the post office, I told Wayne I'd take him wherever he wanted. Guess where he wanted to go?
We went to a couple tool stores, Granger Tools and Sears. He loves those tools!
What is it about a man and his tools!!He looks so happy there!!!enjoy Wayne. We miss you.Am glad you're improving. And if you shall never step on a stage again then may you always be as happy as you look in these photos!!
Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how Wayne is - I am so pleased to see him out shopping for his tools!! I hope that he continues to improve and who knows what he will build for you with those tools - my father once started a dolls house for my little niece and it took him 10 years to complete and she was 13 years old by then and not really into dolls but she still has the dolls house and she is now 38! Sending love and prayers to you both
Great to see Wayne-he looks happy! Our thoughts and prayers are very much with you both. seeing the videos of Wayne backing the UK tour is very poignant
Wayne looks so happy and if he is still able to use all those tools following his health problems, he must be doing OK and must be therapeutic for him. My husband likes getting tools (though not as many as Wayne)and they are still as shiny as the day he bought them because the jobs still need doing! Please keep posting so we know Wayne (and the family) are doing OK x
Wayne sorry to hear about your health, i hope you and Kathy have a wonderful Easter and enjoy the family GOD be with all of you now and always a OS fan forever , Debbie Arnold
Wayne has always loved tools. The best part is that he knows how to use them too. Wayne can fix anything but he needs or wants the correct tool for the job. Ha! He fixed my parents disposal once after they were told by a professional that it couldn't be fixed.
Wayne was always going to build a playhouse for our girls but never had time. Maybe I should suggest that he make one for the granddaughters now. He's going to be limited a little in what he builds unless someone helps him because he isn't supposed to get on a footstool or a ladder. That is going to be really hard for him so I'm going to have to watch him closely or he'll forget and be up on a ladder.
While Wayne is looking at the tools, I usually just walk around the tool store and get a little exercise. He also likes to show me what he has found. There are many stores that carry tools so at least there is a little variety. Today we went to Lowe's.
Well, I knew it would either be tools or ice cream. Wayne is looking so good in the pictures( and as happy as a kid in a candy store) You'll have to have him go shopping with you sometime, kathy. Hope you are doing well also.
With all of his tools, I bet Wayne is extremely organized with his collection. When I was young, I used to love woodwork and watching my dad work on cars. I even built my own clubhouse (we didn't have a tree), nails, lumber and all, and I didn't have to go far for the materials because our neighborhood was in a state of new construction. The construction workers gave me any leftovers they had. It was great!
And although apartment living doesn't allow for grand tools or a work area, I find myself wandering around tool departments as well! After decoration and crafts, that is!
Oh, Wayne -- my downstairs neighbor is working on something and has a major wrench set on his deck. Okay, sending the kitty down there with a ransom note! LOL!
My Dad was a carpenter - so it wasn't unusual for me to want to build something and have him strolling out to the garage to finish it for me with his "Real Tools". All during growing up I would ride on the forks of his Pettibone Cary-lift and help him roof shingles; we would go to eat and tour houses he was building, etc. I wouldn't climb over 2 ft now but it didn't ever scare me to climb a ladder then or ride that single fork on the lift. We didn't have Lowe's and Home Depot - it was the lumber yards - I always asked for a built in pool but Dad took me to the Recreation center to swim after I mowed the lawn.
I didn't have the relationship with him possibly that most kids have close with their Dads - I never remember once really sitting on his lap watching tv or reading a story, but he was there in other ways - just as now he is there up in Heaven because the Lord decided to let more people into Heaven and had to bring him to the Mansions of Glory to prepare more places for His Beloved Chosen people.
I am so glad to see Wayne up and about - and you know if I didn't have to work everyday, I would love to be sharing time with him helping him build and repair stuff. Just like we have our own hobbies and stuff, Wayne is getting to do some of the stuff he always wanted to do but never had time for. But remind him to take it slowly and not too quickly - and make sure to keep an eye on him at all times (What a big job you have to do Kathy!!!) I am so glad I have that precious hug to remember in Findlay Ohio with him last Christmas and I hope to see him again soon someday! Stay healthy and happy Wayne - and remember to keep in touch with us here on Facebook - that is where our true friendship shines!!! Love you all!
I would be worried if Wayne did NOT go out shopping and looking for tools - LOL!!!! Paul has a lot and can fix just about anything / everything. I've actually watched him do a few things and I can proudly say if our tub backs up, I know how to use the hand crank snake to unplug it - a messy/dirty job, but I can do it - HA HA HA!!!! I can't complaint about the tools as I'm the same way with my cameras....
Good to see Wayne out and about. I do like Menard's more than Lowe's and they just built a superstore for Menard's - too big for us - we got tired walking around it.

A boy and his toys = smiles! Great to see you Wayne. Miss you tons!
Just curious as to how you spend your time, Kathy, while Wayne is tool shopping? I know that must be very boring for you. :-)
Wayne looks good..Glad he's up and moving around. Make sure he doesn't over do it.
What does the mister do with all his tools? Does he buy new ones and donate the old ones? :)
